Haiti - Security : Armed confrontation between two rival gangs

According to a partial assessment, at least 4 people would have lost their lives and several others injured, according to the testimonies of the population, during an armed clash Friday evening [which coincided with a blackout] to Simon-Pelé, between two rival gangs, of Simon and of Boston (two neighborhoods of Cité Soleil).

The population of Simon points the finger at the police of Cité-Soleil, it accuses it to have closed their eyes during the clashes, indicating to have saw a police vehicle [license 1-447], which would not have intervened during the shooting.

Saturday morning, the National Police and the Departmental Unit for the Maintenance of Order (UDMO) were deployed in the neighborhood, but the situation was still very tense, people fear that the two bands clash again. The Spokesman of the PNH stated that the situation was under control, no arrests had been made at the moment, but an individual whose identity has not been revealed, was actively searched as part of this incident. Moreover, Frantz Lerebours, firmly rejected the accusations of the population against members of the PNH, in this confrontation.
