Haiti - Economy : The IFC solicits of investment proposals

On the occasion of the Africa Works conference, held in the Netherlands, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has this week launched its call for proposals, intended to financial institutions and private sector companies conducting their activities in eligible low-income countries (including Haiti).

The IFC [of the Group of the World Bank] solicits of investment proposals, that can be financed by the private sector window of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) which is also supported by Canada, the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom.

The IFC is designed to identify financially viable projects, that increase agricultural productivity and provide access to markets and financing. It will accept proposals submitted to it until 14 December 2012. The selected projects will be processed and approved by the IFC in accordance with current rules and procedures. For information about the conditions of participation in the program and eligibility criteria : www.gafspfund.org

The support granted may take the form of short and long term loans, credit guarantees and equity participation, in order to increase agricultural productivity and increase farmers' access to funding, of inputs and markets through the promotion of sustainable agriculture.
