Haiti - Culture : «MORS CELARE» at hotel Olofsson for the feast of «Guédés»

Thursday, November 1 at 9 p.m. on the occasion of the celebration of the Feast of Guédés in Haiti, will be presented at the Hotel Olofsson, the show "MORS CELARE" of the Company "Ocho Proyecto Gato", under the direction of Leilani Maciel , an event proposed by the Mexican Embassy in Haiti on the occasion of the Feast of Guédés.

Each year, between 1 and 2 November, Mexico and Haiti celebrate both their disappeared with a traditional festival full of color, energy and vigor, which would recall nearly to the death itself that it can not kill the vitality of their spirit and of their culture. The common tradition is called Day of the Dead in Mexico and the Feast of Guédés in Haiti. Beyond the theme of death and the homage to ancestors, these two celebrations are closely linked by the ritual, the offering, the joy, celebration and memory.

"MORS CELARE" is a contemporary dance show created from the folklore of the two cultures [Mexico and Haiti], that explores dance, music and other performances such as the construction of altars, the creation of skulls and the integration of cultural symbols. The show integrates many aspects such as history, traditional art, literature, contemporary art and cultural heritage.

The company "Ocho Proyecto Gato" gathered a group of artists (dancers, musicians, visual artists, photographers, designers, singers, choreographers and videographers) in an interdisciplinary creation of contemporary dance built around two fundamental objectives: to explore and reveal the cultural expression of the color of death, by reflecting on our perception, our relationship and our experience with it ; stimulate and develop the cultural relations between the two countries, by working to safeguard and enrich, two similar traditions of cultural heritage of these two countries.

Entry : 500 gourdes - cards available in Olofsson
