Haiti - Economy : Good News for Cap-Haitien

Sunday, after his meeting to the Delegation of the North with the Vice-delegates and the Directors of the Northern Department, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe which is on tour this weekend in the North in prelude to the official opening Monday, October 22 of the Industrial Park North (Caracol), declared at a press conference "[...] We're here in the department, in the great North, we are in the city of Cap-Haitien, because this weekend is one of the biggest weekend in the history of the Great North.

I want to say that, because the airport, which is built for years, and well in 6 weeks, we completed the construction of the runway and the Cap-Haïtien, starting tomorrow morning [Monday], will be equipped with an international runway of 2,600 meters hat will be capable of receiving large international carriers from the United States and Europe, they will be able to land directly here.

This international airport, will opened up the department, the Great North and now, the Cap Haitien will have the pride of having the country's second international airport. Yesterday [Saturday], we approved an extension for the runway of 400 meters, so the airport will ultimately have a runway of 3,000 meters, just like the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince. We also work on the terminal.

In addition, starting Monday in the town of Cap, the Immigration Service will begin to provide the service normally. With this immigration service, you can make your passport application [...] without having to travel to Port-au-Prince. We put online the same software than in Port-au-Prince and the same services are available [...] the application will be done in Cap Haitien, and the person will come back to collect his passport in Cap Haitien..."
