Haiti - Diaspora : Daniel Supplice at «Global Haitian Diaspora Congress»

The Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) inform the general public that the Minister Daniel Supplice is in the United States in order to participate in the "Global Haitian Diaspora Congress" organized by the Haitian Diaspora Federation in Washington, DC, headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), from October 18 to 20, 2012.

This activity takes place under the theme "Unity for Results In and Out of Haiti". The objective of this large meeting is to bring together about 400 leaders, representatives of the Haitian diaspora in the presence of government officials to determine the best strategies allowing to take advantage of resources, intellectual, financial and individual of participants in the reconstruction of Haiti and its own development ; Review the status of efforts since 2009 - Diaspora strengths, weaknesses, needs and trends - and ; Explore and agree on ways to further focus the participants' considerable resources --- intellectual, financial, and coordinated action -- into the reconstruction of Haiti as well as their own development as a community in the adopted countries.

The Congress will provide an opportunity for Haitians living abroad to discuss and reflect on what has been achieved as work. The Ministry will play a key role in the unification of the diaspora, to cope with the challenges faced by Haitians in Haiti as well as abroad.

"The Congress is an opportunity for the diaspora to set aside its differences and unite in order to tackle the problems of our communities and of Haiti," declared the Minister earlier this month.

Are also present, among others in the Congress, Michaëlle Jean, UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, Paul Altidor, Ambassador, of Haiti to the United States of America, Joseph Baptiste, President, Haitian Diaspora Federation, Albert R. Ramdin, OAS Assistant Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza, OAS Secretary General and Thomas C. Adams, Special Coordinator for Haiti, US Department of State.
