Haiti - Economy : Official inauguration Monday of Caracol Industrial Park

Ady Jean Gardy, the Minister of Communications, announced that an important government delegation will stay this weekend, in Cap Haitien to participate in various events as part of sustainable development projects launched in the North and participate Monday, October 22, 2012, in the official inauguration of the first Industrial park of North of Haiti in the presence among others : of President Michel Martelly, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton, Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Group, actor Sean Penn, various investors, and of members of the Presidential Advisory Council on Economic Growth and Investment (PACEGI).

his industrial park, the largest in the region, built on 250 hectares, has created 20,000 jobs directly and more than 100,000 indirect jobs, paving the way for economic growth in the North.

In addition, the Minister Jean Gardy indicated that the Government had spent 25 million U.S. dollars to build a thousand homes in Caracol and the establishment of a modern system for collection and treatment of waste across the North. In parallel street lights have been installed in areas of Shada, of Zidor of Vertierres, Madeline and of Pont Neuf in Cap Haitien to improve safety conditions.

The University of Limonade, Caracol Industrial Park and the rehabilitation of the airport of Cap-Haitien, which has a runway that can accommodate large carriers with modern structures and the same capacity s that of Port-au-Prince ; benefit the entire northern region. The Minister indicated that more than $350 million had already been invested in the North by the Government Martelly-Lamothe and its partners at various levels.

Moreover Monday, Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Commerce and Industry held a meeting with various public institutions concerned, in order to present the Caracol Park and reflect on the coordination mechanisms put in place both for the park and the entire northern region.

The Minister considered important this meeting of exchange, which has helped to create various commissions on strategic aspects of the Industrial Park and the northern region, especially on the environment, land management, food and transport of workers and the coordination of regional development.

Was invited to this meeting: the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities Directorate of Immigration and Emigration), the Secretary of State for Public Security, the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Technical Unit of Execution, General Administration of Customs, General Directorate of Taxes), the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (Office of Insurance Work Accident, Sickness and Maternity), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Director General MCI, Director of Cabinet of the Minister, members of Cabinet of the Minister), Directorate of Free Zones, the National Society of Industrial Parks (SONAPI), the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI), the Post Office of Haiti, the Ministry of Public Works, Transport, Energy and Communications and the Ministry of Environment.
