On the occasion of the commemoration of the 206th anniversary of the death of the Founder of theHaitian fatherland, the Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe delivered a message of unity to the Nation, to make of Haiti a Great nation.

"Today October 17, 2012, is the 206th anniversary of the death of the first emperor of Haiti, the Emperor Jacques 1er. Dessalines's death came at a time when the nation had just obtained its independence, the assassination of the Emperor, is the result of the disunity that existed already 206 years ago among the founding Fathers of the Nation.

This odious assassination should be a lesson for all Haitians, that the Union is essential to the realization of the national construction.

That day, that saw disappear Jean-Jacques Dessalines, is a day that should bring us all to meditate, to meditate on the importance of learning to live together in diversity, in the difference of opinion, to unite, to unite us all, all social classes, all age categories, to make of Haiti a great Nation, to make of our Country, a great Country.
