Thursday, Ronald Gray Décembre, the Secretary of State for tax reform of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, aid at a press conference that the fiscal revenues in the new budget, are increased by 6 billion Gourdes [2012-2013 budget, 131 billion Gourdes] and that objective will be achieved by implementing a set of measures to enable the expansion of the tax base in taxes including salaries. To this end, he stated :

Taxes will be imposed on imports ;

Taxes on poultry will be increased to fight against competition including the Dominican ;

Arrangements will be made in the fight against smuggling and the payment of taxes due to the State ;

A special cell will be created to track taxpayers who evade taxes ;

The scope of the patent will be extended to other economic sectors ;

Tax revenues will now be paid in one installment instead of 3 before.

In addition, persons who perform business activities in all areas, regularly or occasionally, are now subject to a tax on turnover, according to Article 1 amended of the Act of June 2, 1996. This will also concern [among others] : public performances, the production, distribution and marketing of gray cement, the operation of careers of all kinds (except those under contract with the State), imports, production operations, the provision of services as well as deliveries.
