Haiti - Social : Launch of program «Ti Manman Cheri» in the North

Mrs. Rose-Anne Auguste, the Minister for the Fight Against Extreme Poverty, has proceeded Saturday at the launch of program "Ti Manman Cheri" in the Department of North, in the presence of several personalities of the department. It is with great satisfaction that mothers have welcomed this initiative of the Government, to assist the most vulnerable families.

Approximately 6,000 mothers of North [5.000 in Cap-Haitien and 1.000 in Fort-Liberté] have been registered in this program designed to encourage school retention in disadvantaged communities and provide a direct financial support to mothers in precarious economic situation.

After Cité Soleil, Carrefour-feuille, Fort-dimanche, Les Cayes and the Great North, the program will continue its presence in the Artibonite in the coming days.

By December 2012, the program "Ti Manman Cheri", which is part of a set of measures of social assistance of President Martelly, executed by the Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), should register between 75,000 and 100,000 mothers and distribute nearly 13 million U.S. dollars of direct assistance to these needy families.

Let us recall that Haiti, in the Caribbean and Latin America were the only country not to have implemented direct social assistance programs for the most vulnerable populations.
