Haiti - Culture : The President Martelly inaugurated the exhibition «Chimen Libète»

The President Martelly, has proceeded, Thursday, September 20, 2012, in the presence of dozens of personalities of political, economic and cultural sectors, to the inauguration of the exhibition "Chimen Libèté" (The way to Freedom) at the Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH), to less than one month of the commemoration of International Day for the Remembrance of Slave Trade and of its Abolition.

The exhibition "Chimen Libèté" commemorates the memory of the victims colonial and pays tribute to those who have imposed the universality of concept of the "Freedom". According to the Curator of the exhibition, Michele Gardère Frish, also Director of MUPANAH, "it is a manner to invite the Haitians to understand the sense of duty of memory. This exhibition is designed to trace the foundations of our culture and to claim a share of the memory of the abolition of the slave trade and slavery.

The Head of State sees in this initiative, the memory of the long road of black, of slave, in the fields, the trivialization of their lives, of their rights as human beings. It is also a reminder of the role played by Haiti in the construction of a humanity for all the oppressed peoples of the world "It is necessary that we use this memory intact, fairly presented in this exhibition, to build our tomorrow. Be free must become today, have the right to life, health, education. Be free, it is also to have the ability to make a common front to banish the environmental crises, socio-political and economic obstacles, which are of barriers to the way that we still have make."
