Haiti - Environment : Hundreds of houses invaded by waters...

Following the heavy rains that fell more than 4 hours during the night of September 22 to 23, in the town of Anse-à-Galets (Gonâve), and according to the first assessments conducted by the Committee communal of the ivil protection, water flooded hundreds of homes in the downtown. Flooding in the neighboring town of Point-à-Raquette, have also been reported where at least 25 houses are affected.

Sunday, the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) was sent to the island of La Gonâve, in support to the communal structure of Anse-à-Galets, an assessment mission composed of Rony Flervil, Jean Smith Jérôme and Claude Enrico, for continue the assessments and provide the initial responses to 300 families. The Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities are preparing to deliver on site cleaning kits to help the victims.

The DPC, invites the population to remain vigilant and remember that the country is still in the rainy season.
