Haiti - Social : A boat with more than 150 Haitians on board, ran aground in the Bahamas

More than 150 Haitian illegal immigrants, have been arrested in the Bahamas after their boat ran aground. The islands' National Emergency Management Agency declared that the boat ran aground Saturday just off Andros Island as Isaac struck southwest of the Bahamas.

vJack Thompson, the Director of Immigration stated that 152 Haitians have been arrested, but the exact number of people on board has not been established. Some migrants have told investigators that there were at least 170 people on board.

The authorities are considering searching for bodies in the area, but the sea was too rough Saturday, for boats to leave port.

Migrants were reported to be in good health but exhausted from their journey. They would have left the Cap Haitien in the north of Haiti about a week ago.
