Haiti - Security : Important seizure from Haiti

On July 26, agents of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at the Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, have intercepted and seized 7.9 kilos of cocaine, in the false bottoms of two suitcases of a traveller arriving from Haiti.

A first test with Ionscan technology done by the border services officers at the airport was positive. It brought them to do an X-ray inspection, which showed masses under false bottoms in the suitcases. Officers drilled a hole in the suitcases and a white powder escaped. Tests conducted using Ionscan technology and NIK Test showed that the substance was cocaine.

CBSA officers arrested the traveller, who was turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The RCMP will conduct an investigation.

Moreover in Haiti, on Friday in Ganthier, the Office of the Fight against Drug Trafficking (BLTS), will burn in the presence of judicial authorities, nearly 2 tons of drugs seized over the past 3 years.
