Haiti - Diaspora : The Haitian community in France is scandalized

After the strong reaction of the Federation of Haitian Diaspora in Europe (FEDHE) following the non-broadcast of images of the Haitian delegation during the opening of Olympic of London, it is the turn of the Platform of Associations Franco-Haitian (PAFHA) to react to the behavior of TF1 in the treatment of this retransmission.

"[...] The Platform of Associations Franco-Haitian echoed the reactions of the Haitian community in France during the broadcast of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London Friday, July 27, 2012.

The Haitian community of France is shocked and scandalized to see that the production of TF1 presented all athletes of the world except Haiti. We know the lack of resources devoted to sports practices in Haiti. The fact for it, experiencing the most crucial problems to send a delegation to the London Olympics, to send a delegation to the London Olympics, deserves respect and encouragement from the first chain of French televisions.

The participatory act of Haiti refers to the famous words of French, Pierre de Coubertin, "The important thing is to participate." The treatment of TF1, in such circumstances, is discriminating, shameful, scandalous and destabilizing. He is sending a negative message, as usual, to television viewers who, this time have been deprived about Haiti, of the litany of miserabilist and sub-involute that conceals an outdated reading woven of bitterness, of hatred detrimental to the reconciliation of peoples.

Instead of enjoying of this event to support Haiti, the production chose to broadcast athletes [French] having fun with their phones.

The Platform of Associations Franco-Haitian can not ignore such fact and asks to TF1 to apologize to Haiti and to the Haitian community in France.

Paris, July 31, 2012"
