Haiti - Politic : The morality of the President of CSPJ questioned...

The designation surprise, at a minority vote Tuesday, of 3 representatives of the Superior Council of Judicial Power (CSPJ) in the futur Permanent Electoral Council continues to provoke negative reactions. The Deputy Levaillant Louis-Jeune, President of the Lower House, questions the morality of Me Anel Alexis Joseph, President of CSPJ, considering that this appointment was made under illegal conditions and is a very bad signal sent to the population, regarding the credibility of this institution. The Deputy Levaillant, urges the CSPJ to resume the process of appointment of its 3 representatives.

Although the office of the Presidency is silent on the names of 3 representatives of CSPJ, some sources that they are : Patrick Métellus, Judge of the Court of Appeal of Port-au-Prince, Yves Benoit Jean Marie [brother of the Minister of Finance] and Salnave Exantus [senior official at the National Archives], 3 personalities known for their proximity to the head of State.

The Deputy Sadrac Dieudonné, ember of the Bicameral Commission, responsible for analyzing the records of individuals interested to represent the Parliament to the Permanent Electoral Council, said that the designations of CSPJ, are null and void. He also stated that the Commission will hold its first working meeting on July 30, noting that it had already received many applications.

For Senator Moïse there is no doubt that "Me Anel Alexis is at the service of the Executive", he is persuaded to see in these designations, the intervention of the Executive which seeks "to monopolize all the power and install a dictatorial regime in the country." He call for mobilization to defeat the project of the President...

For his part, the President Martelly, Thursday at Anse-à-Veau (Nippes), who seems to want ignore the voices that rise and who are opposed to these designations, harbinger of a new crisis... the establishment of the Permanent Electoral Council is essential for the institutional strengthening "I can not count the number of governments that the country has known during all these years. Nobody thought to form the Permanent Electoral Council. Today I will establish it ...] We need strong institutions and solid that can guarantee political stability so that we can achieve the economic development [...]"
