Haiti - Economy : The President Martelly at Industrial Park of Caracol

On Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Ambassador of Haiti in Washington, Paul Altidor, the U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Merten and Cheryl Mills, Chief of Staff of the Secretary of State of the United States, went on the site of the Industrial Park of North (Caracol) to track the progress of work.

The Head of State first visited the site of housing construction, for employees of companies of Industrial Park and met among others, Mr. Mario Nicoleau, Representative of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the engineer Harold Charles, President of CEEPCO, a construction company working on the project with which he spoke of the progress of work. The President Martelly then met the workers of this project and urged them to give the best of themselves to build this new Haiti, that all hope.

The President then went to the Power Plant that must power the industries of the Industrial Park of Caracol where he symbolically, put the plant in operation. He took the opportunity to meet Mr. Andres Choi, Director of the plant and Mr. Donald Pierre-Louis of the AECOOM, engineering supervisor and the engineer Emilio Acevedo with whom he discussed of the technical possibilities to provide electricity in the surrounding communities. Afterwards, the President of the Republic signed the guestbook of the plant, before continuing his tour.

Before leaving, the Head of State also visited the Korean company SAE-A Trading Co. Ltd, and met with its CEO, Mr. Daniel Cho and other executives of the plant. During this visit, the President had very fruitful exchanges with employees, mostly women.

While visiting the industrial park of Caracol, the Head of State has not failed to reiterated its commitment to encourage investment in the country.
