At a press conference on Wednesday, Réginald Paul, the Minister of Education informed that 320 million gourdes are available to organize in Haiti, the official examinations to be held from July 3 to 27, 2012 throughout the national territory.

"[...] We have almost completed all preparations to return to the organizational phase of the official examination from July 3 to 27. We know this is an extremely important phase in the Haitian education system and society as well, because many parents send their children to school. We have nearly 750,000 children, youth and adults including nearly 80,000 in Bac II (old and new candidates), who will undergo these examinations.

I quickly recall that we have several levels of organization, we have the 6th and 9th fundamental year. In the 6th year we have nearly 275,000 children who will pass these exams and 193.000 in the 9th year, these are preliminary figures that we will finish adjusting.

For students of Rhéto regular, we have nearly 114.000 and about 64,000 that have failed in Rétho, who are retaking the exams this year. For the Philo, we have nearly 69.000 students and 22.000 that have failed who are retaking the exams this year.

We also examinations of the Ecole Normale of teachers, who have an oral and written phase, about 2.505 adults, who will pass these exams to become new teachers in the education system.

As I said, we are in the final phase of preparation, all our material is already available [...] the Examination Centres have already been chosen [...] the texts are already written and ready [...] correctors have already received their letter, telling them that they were selected to correct the exams [...] the choice of supervisory staff and supervisors is underway [...] basically, we can say that we are ready to 90% [...]"
