Haiti - Security : The PNH in the Communal Sections within a year ?

Former Senator Youri Latortue, Political Advisor to the Head of State, informed, that he had proposed to the Supreme Council of National Police (CSPN) a plan, which had received approval from police authorities aimed at extending the police presence in the 570 Communal Sections of country.

The plan, who proposes the recruitment of 5 olice officers by communal section, will need about 400 million gourdes of operating budget and will require nearly $10 million investment. The former Senator said that Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, the Minister of Economy and Finance, who was present at the meeting, promised to seek financial resources for this project.

Youri Latortue, stressed that if the National Police of Haiti, starting up this process quickly, these new agents could be deployed within a year throughout the country, contributing by their presence, to strengthen the rule of law while promoting the maintenance of harmonious relations between people, local authorities and the courts.
