Haiti - Humanitarian : The Government supports the International Symposium on the Role of NGOs

Incas Productions Inc. and its partners, the Consulate General of Haiti in Montreal and the Group of Reflection and Action for a New Haiti (GRAHN-Monde) have received the support of the Haitian Government and the Prime Minister on the occasion of the International Symposium on the role of NGOs in Haiti to be held June 15 in Montreal at the Hotel Plaza Holiday Inn, 420 Sherbrooke Street West, on the theme "the role of NGOs in Haiti : between good and evil"

As a prelude to this event, where he will deliver a video message, the Haitian Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, congratulated the organizers of this event : "Our sincere compliments to Incas Productions Inc.. and its partners for this successful initiative that combines perfectly with the wishes of the government Martelly-Lamothe. Indeed, to date, Haiti depends to more than 80% of foreign aid and we are working to change that. The momentum is there to start the work and restore the autonomy of Haiti. To do this, we will propose a plan, so that NGOs work closely with the Haitian government and that donors can, now, trust us. The funds of international aid should be allocated directly to government agencies in order to work towards a new paradigm of international cooperation encouraging development assistance to Haiti rather than the humanitarian"

Distinguished guests such as Ms. Josépha Gauthier, Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Mr. Daniel Supplice, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, Dr. William Pape, a pioneer in AIDS research in the world, Dr. Gabriel Thimothé, Director General of the Ministry of Health of Haiti, and the representatives of major Haitian NGOs, will be present at this symposium.

The objectives of this symposium, open to the public, are :

1. Findings and analyzes of the role of NGOs in Haiti;

2. Encourage better coordination between the Haitian government and NGOs;

3. Encourage NGOs to work towards sustainable development in Haiti;

4. Produce and publish an e-book on the role of NGOs in Haiti.
