Haiti - Culture : Laurent Lamothe will be at the official opening of «Discover Haiti»

The Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe will deliver remarks on Wednesday, June 13 at 6h15pm for the official opening of Discover Haiti, an exhibit of Haitian handcrafts and art organized by the Inter-American Development Bank’s Cultural Center and the Urban Zen and Nomad Two Worlds foundations. The event will take place in the atrium of the IDB’s headquarters, 1300 New York Avenue, NW. Laurent Lamothe, will be introduced by IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno and Urban Zen’s founder, the fashion designer and philanthropist Donna Karan.

The exhibition "Discover Haiti", which will be open to the public June 11-27, from 11:00 a.m. to 6: p.m., will showcase stone, wood, metal, horn, cardboard and papier mâché artifacts made by craftsmen and women participating in Urban Zen’s Haiti Artisan Project in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel and Léogâne.

The exhibit will also feature large-scale art pieces created collaboratively by Russell James and Philippe Dodard, a Haitian painter and sculptor selected by Nomad Two Worlds.
