Haiti - Chicago : 209th anniversary of the creation of the Haitian flag

Lesly Condé, the Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, reminds to the compatriots of the whole Midwest, that May 18, 2012 brings the 209th anniversary of the creation of the Haitian flag.

"On this occasion, Saturday, May 19, the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti in collaboration with the Consular Mission and other Haitian community organizations of Chicago invites the compatriots and friends of Haiti to a recreational, cultural and patriotic meeting to be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the premises of the Congress located 1611 Simpson Street, Evanston, Il. On the program: songs, poems, history of the flag, folkloric show, musical entertainment. Snack and Refreshments will be served.

Sunday, May 20, Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consulate General invite the brothers and sisters of the community at a Solemn Te Deum Mass to be celebrated at 5:30 pm at the Church Our Lady of the Peace located 7801 South Jeffrey [Chicago]. After the religious ceremony a reception will be offered to people of different religious denominations, in the basement of the church.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago encourages all Haitians and friends of Haiti to come in large numbers to pay tribute to the two-color national symbol of our brotherhood and our resilience [...]"
