Haiti - Diplomacy : Martelly congratulates Sean Penn
President Michel Martelly, presented his warmest congratulations to the Goodwill Ambassador of Haiti, Sean Penn, for the the distinction he received at the 12th World Summit of Nobel Laureates of Peace (Peace Summit Award) held in Chicago, USA, from April 23 to 25 2012.

"Sean Penn is a great friend of Haiti, I am pleased that he has received a prestigious award which recognizes all his efforts in Haiti. It never ceases to accompany the Haitian people in their difficult moments, especially after the tragedy of January 12, 2010," indicated the President Martelly.

Ambassador Sean Penn, by receiving this award, paid a vibrant tribute to the Haitian people in these terms : "But as Dr. Martin Luther King said, it's fine to tell a man to pull himself up by his own bootstraps, but evil to tell a man to do so without boots. It would take a poet laureate to describe for you the courage and the dignity of (Haiti's) people. Haiti still needs our help more than 500,000 Haitians are still living in IDP camps."

The Goodwill Ambassador, Sean Penn, was honored for his commitment in Haiti after the earthquake of January 12 through his organization J/P Haitian Relief with a budget estimated at more than $1 million per month most of which comes from grants and contracts that include $6.2 million from the United Nations for debris removal and demolition ; $2.25 million from the World Bank, and a outsourcing of USAID to the tune of 1.5 million.
