Haiti - Environment : JetBlue Airways is committed to planting 1 tree for each passenger...

JetBlue the environmentally conscious airline, is committed to planting over 80,000 trees throughout municipalities in North and Northwest Haiti.

JetBlue Airways is teaming up with long-time partner Carbonfund.org Foundation to plant one tree for every customer travelling on the airline on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2012. More than 83,000 customers are expected to take to the skies across JetBlue's 70 city-network on Sunday.

The new trees will be planted through August 2012 and will contribute to the reforestation particularly to Arcahaie, Cabaret, and Montrouis.

"As the airline with a true interest and investment in the communities that we serve, we thought planting one tree for every customer flying with us on Sunday best demonstrates our commitment," declared Icema Gibbs, director corporate social responsibility, JetBlue Airways.
