Haiti - Politic : Filing of the documents of Prime Minister-designate, this Thursday

Thimoleon Stevenson Jacques, President of the Commission of the Lower House responsible for examining the document of Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe, declared on Wednesday "...there are 7 Commissioners, that the Assembly, that the office of the Chamber of Deputies have chosen to study the case of Prime Minister-designate. Tuesday afternoon, we had our first working session where we provided the Commission with a desk, which I am the President... https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-5429-haiti-politic-creation-of-the-special-commission-of-the-lower-house.html [...]

Currently, we are at our second working session [...] we define the exact methodology, how we will act quickly on the issue in accordance with Article 157 of the Constitution.

[...] We are obliged to do the work carefully, we have nothing that compels us, makes us run with this work... We must carefully examine all records of the Prime Minister-designate, we will take the time to make the report and we will do everything we can to stay within the time limit. But, if there are complications, if we need more time, we will ask the office to give us a moratorium. In what concerns us, we are working hard to meet the period of 15 days, the Prime Minister will be there tomorrow morning at 11am [Thursday] to file its documents..."

Alongside the work of the Commission, the Deputy Levaillant Louis-Jeune, National Coordinator of INITE, indicated on Wednesday that the coordination was continuing discussions with members of the Parliamentary Group for Renewal (GPR), but that no common position on the ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, had been decided so far. Relating to the recent statements of Senator Joseph Lambert who said that 62 members were in favor of the ratification of Laurent Lamothe, he clarified that this did not concern the GPR.

For his part, the Deputy François Malherbe hope that the position of the Platform, will take into account the demands of its allies. He estimates that it would be regrettable that the deputies, allies of INITE, does not have their word in the negotiations and warned that if these negotiations are not inclusive, the position that will choose to adopt the GPR, may not be followed by its allies.
