Haiti - Politic : Laurent Lamothe ratified in the Senate, 19 in favor, 3 against and 1 abstention
At 10:00 pm, after several hours of often heated debate the Senate ratified the Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe. 24 senators were present, 23 voted (the President not voting).
Simon Dieuseul Desras, the President of the Senate declared "...I think that the assembly is edified of the presentation that was done on the report of the subcommission which was responsible to study the documents of the Prime Minister-designate, in accordance with Article 219 of our internal regulations this report must end after discussions with a vote, in the spirit of this internal regulation we'll vote the report's recommendations.
People who accept the report's recommendations as they are raise your hands please, people who are against the recommendations raise your hands please, the persons who abstain, who votes neither for nor against raise your hands [...] 19 votes for, 3 against, there are 23 people in the room I did not vote, one abstention, so the report was adopted following the recommendations that were made..."
John William Jeanty left before the vote. Edmonde Supplice Beauzile not present was represented by Senator Hyppolite Melius for a vote in favor. Among the senators who voted against, the Senators Steven Benoit and Moïse Jean Charles.
