Haiti - Culture : 76th anniversary of Frankétienne

The troupe "Comédiens et Plus" in partnership with the French Institute of Haiti (IFH) and the Fokal, wished to honor, from April 10 to 13, 2012, the great creator multidisciplinary Frankétienne for his 76th birthday. This will be the occasion to discover or rediscover, the immense work of this Haitian artist. The troupe "Comédiens et Plus" intends to promote at this occasion, the work of Frankétienne, particularly his theatrical creation, with younger audiences.

This week of activities will begin Tuesday, April 10 at the FOKAL, from 5:00 p.m., by a chat with the author, followed by the stage reading of "Pelentet", by the comedians James Fleurissant and Loudy Mezima.

Wednesday, April 11, from 5:00 p.m., at the terrace of IHF [99, Avenue Lamartiniere, Bois Verna, Port-au-Prince] will take place the opening of the exhibition of recent paintings and drawings of Frankétienne, followed by a stage reading of "Voix Marassas" and "Rapjazz" by the comedians David Mezy, Marc-endy Simon and the singer Samantha Normil.

Thursday, April 12, at the restaurant Villate in Petion ville from 7pm, will be presented the musical comedy "FOUKIFOURA" adapted from the work of Frankétienne, and directed by David Mezy.

Born April 12, 1936, to Ravine Sèche, communal section Poteneau of the town of Grande Saline, in the Artibonite Department, of his real name "Jean-Pierre Basilic Dantor Franck Étienne d'Argent" (Frankétienne) is a poet, painter, actor, and co-founder of the literary movement "spiralisme" [founded in Frankétienne 1965 by Frankétienne, René Philoctète later joined by Jean-Claude Fignolé]. Sacred "national treasure" in 2006, Frankétienne just published a revision of his great book, "l'Oiseau schizophone" published by "Vents d'ailleurs"
