Haiti - Diplomacy : New schedules and more services at the Consulate of Haiti in New York

Charles Antoine Forbin, the new Consul General of Haiti in New York (New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut), in office since November 2, 2011, in a statement thanked once again the Diaspora for the warm welcome and took the opportunity to inform about the innovations within the Consulate.

"I would like salute the community of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut [...] I want to thank you all once again for the warm welcome you gave me since my appointment at the Consulate. After a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affair, Laurent Lamothe and the President Joseph Michel Martelly, we decided to offer better services and to open for this purpose, the Consulate every Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, so you can come and do your passports and mandates and also receive potential investors" Concerning the new hours for the week the Consul clarified "... I looked, and I found that to 4:00 pm were not enough to provide good service, so I took the responsibility to open the Consulate until 6:00 pm during the week, so when you leave your job, you can go to the Consulate to make a mandate, for a passport or other information."

Mr. Forbin has announced that the Consulate gave services at home "what is very important for the disabled and the elderly, simply call the Consulate at 212-697-7797 to set an appointment and we will send a consular officer at home, to offer you the service you need," adding "at the Consulate we also make the search for documents, this means that for birth certificates and marriage certificates, you come here at the Consulate and we will do the searching for you in Haiti" announcing that "in the future, the Minister Lamothe would put some annexes to Consulate, this means that we will have two three offices in Spring Valley, Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey."
