Haiti - Security : Evacuation of the bases of FAd'H, Martelly met the Minustah

At a press briefing this Monday, the President Martelly indicated that he had met Amunátegui Mariano Fernández, the civil Chief of the United Nations Mission for the Stabilization of Haiti (Minustah), to inform him of the provisions adopted in order to force the armed men, in military fatigues, to leave the old bases of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) they currently occupy. The Head of State claimed to have had given instructions to the departments concerned to maintain peace and order throughout the territory, adding that a Commission to compensate the demobilized soldiers had been established.

Mariano Fernández, who did not participate in the briefing should go to New York to present at the United Nations his report on the situation, stated stated the President Martelly, who wished to reiterate that the formation of the new armed force must be done in order and that the rule of law, must become a reality in Haiti.

However on the ground, David Dormé, the head of the National Coordination of Demobilized Military (CONAMID) reported that the military occupying the former bases of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) are within their constitutional rights. Describing it as irresponsible any decision by the government to dislodge them, he warned that "no one can enter these bases if we do not authorize them. Our bases are not police station."
