Haiti - Politic : The Civil Society extremely concerned about the resignation of Prime Minister

Following the resignation of Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille, the Professor Rosny Desroches, Executive Director of the Civil Society Initiative (ISC) is concerned but also very pessimistic about the situation in the coming days.

"...I think the resignation of Mr. Conille, as Prime Minister, will aggravate the crisis. I can tell you, at the level of the Civil Society we are extremely concerned about what is happening. There are a number of abuses that we found: the case of the constitutional amendment which is not published, we have one third of the Senate who will leave in May and elections will not have time to be realized, which means that we will have a dysfunctional Senate and the Parliament who will not be able to do certain functions, so we'll have a problem at the level of the legislative power [...]

...we are already in crisis [...] how long will it take to replace the Prime Minister ? We remember that this took almost four months to appoint a Prime Minister ! [...] We believe that the situation will deteriorate in the coming days [...] all democratic countries which are used to operating within a constitutional framework, are concerned [...] Today we are entering into a period where it will be difficult to find a Prime Minister, there may be a slowdown in aid and in the potential investments [...]

...personally I do not see this scenario with optimistic, quite the contrary, I think that the President Martelly should have found a 'Modus Vivendi' with Mr. Conille has shown great wisdom, of retaining and moderation... unfortunately this has not been done... we do not see it of a very good eye..."
