10 boxers of the Haitian National Selection currently participating in the "Copa Independencia", in Santiago in the Dominican Republic from February 18 to 24, 2012. More than a dozen countries are represented in this competition. An important tournament for our Haitian boxers who are preparing for the playoffs of London 2012 Olympics, to be held in Brazil from May 4 to 13.

At the "Copa Independencia" our national team has won two bronze medals. Jeff Volcy (91kg) won the first medal by defeating the Chilean Luis Valeria. For his part our compatriot Stan Stanisclasse (81kg) knocked out the number one from Dominican Republic, Walerby Rodriguez. This Wednesday, our two boxers medalists, will try to win the Gold. Jeff will meet in the final of his category the Dominican and Stan a Russian.

Peter Eddy Daniel, President of the Haitian Amateur Boxing Federation (FHBA) reported that the 8 best boxers of the "Copa Independencia" will be part of qualifying for the 2012 Olympics. They will participate in advance, next March, to a training course in Mexico.

Besides the qualifications of London in 2012, our athletes will go to France from April 4 to 13, 2012 for the tournament "Ceinture Montana". In July, they will be in Martinique for the fourth annual tournament of creole speaking countries and in November at the "Copa Romana" in the Dominican Republic.
