Haiti - Education : Practical courses in Telecom for 30 students of the Faculty of Science

In order to contribute to prepare them for professional life, technicians of the Section of Information Technology and Communication (CITS) of the Minustah, provide since mid-January courses in telephone systems, microwave, and satellite networks, to the benefit of thirty students in 5th year of Electronics Engineering, of the Faculty of Sciences of the State University of Haiti (UEH) [selected by the Dean of the Faculty].

This high level practical training, lasting six weeks, that is done, by rotation, in each discipline will enable these future engineers to become familiar with the use of complex telecommunications equipment, in addition to academic courses that are given to them.

This is the CITS who took the initiative to offer this training to the Faculty of Sciences, to help it to overcome it lack of equipment, most of which were destroyed on 12 January 2010. "This is the first experiment of its kind" welcomed Emmanuel Lemonnier, the Chief of CITS, who wishes that this type of collaboration between the UN and young students may in future be repeated.
