Haiti - Politic : The Parliament wants an investigation on the contracts without tender

The Commission that the Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille is preparing to create, in order to make an audit of the contracts signed during the last months of the Préval-Bellerive government arouses different reactions in Parliament.

The Senator Willy Jean Baptiste remains septic before this initiative, who according to him, will not bring much. He recalled that contracts awarded without tender, of previous Government, were granted under the emergency law passed by the 48th Legislature, law that gave all power to the authorities to engage the country...

For its part, the Parliament requires that an investigation be carried out without delay, on all contracts without tender, concerning the reconstruction, whether contracts awarded under the Government Préval-Bellerive or under the Government Martelly Conille.

The Senator Jocelerme Privert, President of the Finance Commission of the Upper House, believes that this parliamentarians approach, should not be regarded as seeking to undermine the government Martelly-Conille, but that it is part of the normal responsibilities of elected officials in their oversight role.
