Haiti - Navigation : SEMANAH delivers equipment to strengthen ship security
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Patrick Norzéus, Director General of the Haitian Maritime and Navigation Service (SEMANAH), leading a delegation, delivered a set of maritime signaling equipment to the National Port Authority (APN). This delivery is part of the project to mark the navigation channels of international ports and some coastal ports in the country. The Director General of SEMANAH stated his determination to continue the work of marking Haitian ports, particularly international ports, throughout his tenure at the head of the institution. In this spirit, he pledged to work closely with APN officials to make their interventions more effective. According to Norzéus, SEMANAH and the APN are two complementary institutions, both aiming to improve the safety and organization of maritime navigation in the country. For his part, Eng. Jean Evens Charles, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), expressed his satisfaction with SEMANAH's presence at the port and the support provided by the institution in this task. He emphasized that the APN cannot function normally without SEMANAH's collaboration, which he likened to a "maritime traffic police force" whose mission is to help regulate ship traffic and contribute to navigational safety. Norzéus thanked the Prime Minister for all the support provided to SEMANAH, enabling the institution to obtain the necessary equipment to survey and mark port navigation channels. He also took the opportunity to commend the APN's contribution to the realization of this major project. Learn more about navigational marking : Port navigational marking is an operation that marks navigation channels at sea, so that ships can identify the safest route for entering and leaving ports. This work helps facilitate the movement of ships day and night, while also helping to reduce the risk of maritime accidents. HL/ HaitiLibre
