PM Holds Talks with Trump On the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé attended a dinner hosted by President Donald Trump at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. During the event, the Haitian head of government spoke with the U.S. President about the importance of relations between Haiti and the United States and the need to strengthen cooperation between the two nations. BINUH : $375 Million Budget Daniela Kroslak, Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), revealed that the office has a $375 million budget—approved by UN member states—intended to "provide logistical and operational support to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF)." BINUH manages a trust fund currently holding $225 million (comprising voluntary contributions from friendly nations), primarily designated for the salaries of GSF members. U.S. Sanon Trial : Claude Joseph and Ariel Henry May Testify In the trial concerning the assassination of former Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, former Prime Ministers Claude Joseph and Ariel Henry could be called to testify at the request of lawyers representing the accused, Christian Emmanuel Sanon. Sanon’s defense team also announced plans to call historian and political analyst Michel Soukar as a witness. Meanwhile, prosecutors Sean T. McLaughlin, Jason Wi, and Altanesse Phenelus have already compiled a list of 58 witnesses Industries in distress need help To enable struggling industries to continue production and facilitate the recovery of those that were vandalized, David Coles, President of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), suggested—speaking on a capital-city radio station—the implementation of crisis-appropriate recapitalization mechanisms.
