Distribution of Candidates by Electoral Office :

According to data from the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), the position of Member of Parliament attracts by far the largest number of applicants with 580 candidates, followed by local authorities represented by 274 candidates for the position of CASEC and 260 candidates for Mayor. The Senate has 195 candidates, while local ASEC positions have 160. Finally, the presidential race has a limited number of registered candidates, with only 10.

Demographic Structure of Candidates by Age and Gender :

Data on the candidates' profiles highlight a marked predominance of middle-aged adults and men. In terms of age distribution, the vast majority of candidates are between 31 and 60 years old, representing nearly 85% of the total: the 31-45 age group accounts for 42.5%, closely followed by the 46-60 age group at 42.1%. Young people aged 18 to 30 are particularly underrepresented at only 5.3%, while candidates aged 60 and over make up 10.1% of the total. Regarding gender distribution, male candidates overwhelmingly predominate at 79.0%, compared to only 21.0% female candidates.

Geographical representation and disparities in female participation :

The analysis by department shows a varying number of registered candidates for the different elected positions (Senator, Member of Parliament, Mayor, CASEC and ASEC). The departments with the highest number of candidates are the Southeast (282 candidates), the South (243), and the West (169). The proportion of women varies considerably by region: it reaches a peak of 27.7% in the Southeast, but falls to 15.6% in Artibonite, 15.1% in the Northeast, and reaches its lowest point in Grand'Anse with 13.9% women.

Compliance with the constitutional quota of 30% wome n:

Overall, women's participation stands at 21.0%, which remains below the minimum constitutional quota of 30% (according to Article 17.1 of the Constitution). However, this representation is very uneven depending on the positions targeted. For national and legislative positions, the quota is largely missed : the presidential candidacy includes no women (0.0% of the 10 candidates), the Chamber of Deputies is limited to 6.7% (out of 580 candidates), and the Senate to 13.8% (out of 195 candidates). In contrast, for territorial and local positions, the 30% quota is met and exceeded, particularly for the positions of Mayor (33.5%), CASEC (33.6%), and ASEC (41.3%).

Temporal Dynamics of Registrations :

Registration activity over the last seven days shows a consistent volume of applications submitted from September 21 to 25, maintaining a high average of approximately 80 to 100 registrations per day. The curve shows a slight dip on September 26 with 59 registrations, before plummeting to zero on September 27, suggesting the imminent closure or end of the candidate registration period.

Martelly Case :

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has not yet decided on the candidacy of Michel Martelly, registered online on September 22, 2026, under the banner of the DEBLOKE party. However, his application is currently undergoing a thorough review and is under close legal scrutiny.

The CEP reiterates that online registration does not constitute final validation. Electoral authorities are currently analyzing the physical and legal conformity of the documents submitted by each applicant.

The CEP is expected to publish its preliminary list of approved candidates on September 29, 2026, followed by the official final list on October 14, 2026, at which time the final decision regarding the candidacies will be made.
