Elections : Discouraging Figures

In a statement, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) announced, “At the insistent request of the approved political structures, the CEP informs them that an additional deadline of October 9, 2026, is granted for the online registration of candidates and the submission of required documents [...]" This is the second time in as many weeks that the CEP has granted an extension. As of September 16, there were 7 candidates registered for the presidency, 117 for the Senate, 311 for the Chamber of Deputies, 95 municipal coalitions, 99 Communal Section Administrative Councilors (CASEC), and 47 Communal Section Administrative Councilors (ASEC). Only 28 out of 105 approved political structures have successfully registered their 30,000 members. Just over 507,000 registered voters...

Elections : Over 16.8 Million Attempts at Fraud

More than 16.8 million fraudulent attempts to register the required quota of 30,000 members were rejected by the system as of September 14, 2026. Some political organizations are using every means at their disposal : creating fake National Identification Numbers (NINUs) (generated digitally or manually), duplication, discrepancies in personal data, etc...

Psychosocial Support for Hospital Staff

Since July 1st, the Western Health Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health, with the support of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), has been organizing stress management sessions to support the psychosocial well-being of staff at the University Hospital of Peace (HUP), Eliazar Germain Hospital, Saint-Damien Hospital, Fontaine Hospital, Dr. Raoul Pierre Louis Hospital (HDRPL), and Sainte-Camille Hospital. Nearly 300 hospital staff members have already benefited from these sessions. "They were able to learn simple techniques and practical strategies to integrate into their daily lives in order to better manage stress and preserve their well-being, thus strengthening their resilience and the quality of care offered to the communities," explained Dr. Yanick Mwe Mutani, Psychiatrist and Mental Health Consultant at the PAHO office in Haiti.

Elections : Mission to Identify Challenges

On Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, Mr. Lucien Jura, the Secretary of State for Communication, visited the city of Les Cayes as part of a mission he is leading. During this mission, the Secretary of State met with several officials from public institutions in the South Department to discuss the provisions of the electoral decree, the responsibilities of the various stakeholders involved in the process, and the support provided by the public administration in preparation for the upcoming elections. The mission aims to gather their concerns and identify logistical, operational, and communication challenges in order to make swift adjustments.
