Haiti - Security : The response to terror is underway

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following the massacre perpetrated against the population of Kenscoff by terrorists from the criminal coalition Viv Ansanm on the night of August 23-24, 2026 (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-48290-haiti-flash-new-massacre-in-kenskoff-at-least-60-victims.html), Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Head of Government and President of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), convened an emergency meeting of the CSPN members at the Prime Minister's Office.

"The Government's determination is absolute. We will take the initiative, track down those responsible, and dismantle the criminal networks that terrorize the population. The Kenscoff massacre will not go unpunished," the Prime Minister declared.

This command meeting allowed for an update of the threat assessment and strengthened joint coordination, with a clear objective: to break the grip of armed groups, restore public order, and protect lives.

On the Prime Minister's instructions, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Dr. Patrick Pélissier, convened the Director General of the Haitian National Police and the Commander of the Anti-Gang Force that same day, accompanied by the civilian representative, the Minister of Defense, and Major General Jonas Jean of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H), to coordinate the immediate operational deployment in the field.

Fils-Aimé ordered the immediate intensification of security operations in the metropolitan area and its surroundings. Operational measures were adopted to track down those responsible, dismantle criminal networks, and regain control of areas occupied by gangs.

The Government reaffirms its full support for the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) and is mobilizing all state resources to restore law and order and protect the population.
