Haiti - Justice : 45 young people attend a training seminar on the functioning of justice

The Section Justice of the Minustah (South) and the Multimedia Centre of Les Cayes, have co-organized a training seminar for 45 young members of the Organization South for the Defense of Human Rights (OSDDCH).

Organized around the theme "Functioning of the criminal justice in Haiti," this training was responding to a request from the committee of young academics gathered within the OSDDCH, for most defenders of human rights. The training was, in fact, allow them a better understanding of functioning of the Haitian judicial system.

During two days, participants were able to update their knowledge on the Haitian judicial system, the individual freedom, the issuance of judicial warrants, the actors of the criminal justice system and their respective roles. Followed by discussions and workshops devoted to the study of practical cases.

After the training, participants were eligible, each, to a copy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 10 December 1948, a copy of the a copy of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights of 1966 and that of the Body of Principles for the Protection of All Persons under Any Form of Detention or Imprisonment adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1988, among other documents.
