Haiti - PNH New Generation : Women at the Heart of Change
Saturday August 22, 2026, the Haitian National Police (PNH), in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the European Union, organized in Les Cayes, the third awareness campaign intended for professional women interested in integration within the PNH and in enhancing the institutional image. This approach is part of a perspective of strengthening the institutional image and promoting a more inclusive, professional and representative police force of Haitian society. Placed under the theme "PNH New Generation : Women at the Heart of Change, this initiative aims to raise awareness among young women about the possibilities of integration within the police institution and to encourage greater participation of women in public security professions. The awareness session was punctuated by several interventions, notably those of Allande Serge Joliccœur Departmental Director of the South, Sylvain Merlen Representative of the UNDP, as well as Divisional Commissioner Erna Royal, Representative of the Director General of the PNH. Discussions with young people mainly focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), training at the National Police Academy (ENP) and recruitment procedures within the PNH. Officials and representatives of the structures concerned intervened, in particular the GBV Manager of the National Coordination of Women's Affairs and Gender Issues (CNAFQG) in the South, the Principal Commissioner Marjorille Plaisival Representative of the ENP, as well as Inspector Paul Smith Bonne Année, Representative of the PNH Recruitment Service. An exchange with young women and a testimonial session also allowed participants to better understand the realities of the police profession, the professional opportunities offered by the institution and the importance of the role of women in strengthening the PNH.
