CFU U-14 Grand Final : Match Time

The CFU U-14 Men's Challenge Grand Final between Haiti and Jamaica will be played this Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 11:30 AM (Haiti time) at the Cap Cana Sports City complex on the Los Establos field in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Jamaica won its first CFU trophy in 2024 against Guyana [7-1]. (Haiti was a two-time CFU Challenge champion in 2021 and 2022). This is the first time Haiti will face Jamaica in the U-14 Men's category.

USA : Immigrant Visa Suspension Rejected by Court

Judge Jeannette Vargas of the Southern District of New York overturned the Trump administration's suspension of immigrant visas imposed on 75 countries, including Haiti. She ruled that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had exceeded his authority by denying visa applications without conducting individual assessments of the applicants' circumstances.

Major Cleanup Operation

On Friday, August 21, 2026, the National Solid Waste Management Service (SNGRS), under the leadership of its Director General, Daril Baltazar, and Deputy Director General, Ernseau Letang, launched a major cleanup operation targeting a large garbage dump in the Maïs Gaté area, particularly in the vicinity of the Ministry of Public Health.

New U.S. Chargé d'Affaires

On August 20, Raina Forbin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, received David Howell, the new U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, in an audience. Discussions focused on the security situation, the ongoing electoral process, the renewal of the mandate of the Gang Repression Force, disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR), and migration issues.

Emergency Heritage Safeguarding Mission

In conjunction with the Institute for the Safeguarding of National Heritage (ISPAN), the National Bureau of Ethnology (BNE) is continuing its emergency heritage safeguarding mission in the North Department, focusing on the Place de la Rue 3 in Cap-Haïtien and the Guahaba Museum in Limbe. In the surrounding areas (markets) near the Place, archaeological explorations and interviews were conducted at Lakou Meme in La Fosette, at the old Florvil Hyppolite Bridge, and at the Sacré Cœur parish.
