Forum : "What Kind of Army for Haiti ?"

The Ministry of Defense is organizing a forum on the theme "What Kind of Army for Haiti ?" at the Karibe Hotel, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on August 21, 22, and 23, 2026. “This event will bring together experts, researchers, representatives of the Armed Forces, civil society actors, and other key sectors of national life.” Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Defense Mario Andresol, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences Eugène Pierre Louis, and Rector of the University of Haiti (UEH) Dieusel Prédélus will participate in this forum.

Anniversaries : Tabou Combo and Tropicana Share the Stage

On Saturday, August 22nd, at the Karibe Hotel, Tabou Combo and the Tropicana Orchestra will celebrate their longevity together before a large audience at an event called "Fusion" Tabou Combo, founded on August 27, 1968, will celebrate its 58th anniversary, and Tropicana its 63rd. CEP : Drawing of Party Numbers

On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Jacques Desrosiers, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), conducted a drawing to assign a number to each of the approved political parties and groups. The ceremony took place in Pétion-Ville in the presence of members of the Government as well as representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps. Jacques Desrosiers emphasized the importance of this initiative, which will allow parties to be identified by a number and facilitate voting for voters who are illiterate.

End of More Than Two Years on the Run

The Haitian National Police (PNH), through the Southeast Departmental Police Directorate, in the town of Bellerive (Bè Zoranj), located in the commune of Belle-Anse, arrested Nicolas Eddy (35 years old), a prison escapee who had been on the run since March 2024, for criminal conspiracy. He is believed to have been involved in the attack on the Seguin police station in April 2026.

Inter-American Defense College

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Vladimir Paraison, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), accompanied by the High Command and the highest-ranking officers of the police force, participated in an official tribute ceremony alongside Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Haitian Foreign Minister Raina Forbin, several members of the government, and the Acting Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H), Lieutenant General Derby Guerrier. On this occasion, high-ranking state officials honored the official visit to Haiti of the Director-Commander of the Inter-American Defense College (CID), Major General Joseph Lestorti, highlighting the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to excellence, strategic training, and national security.
