Haiti Prepares a Reception Plan for TPS Repatriates

The Haitian government is preparing a plan to provide a dignified welcome to Haitians who may be returned to the country after the end of TPS in the United States. According to Raina Forbin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, several meetings have already taken place with Haitian stakeholders involved in this issue. She reports that steps are being taken with U.S. authorities to clarify the procedures for their return.

16 of the 17 Approved Political Groups (List)

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), in accordance with Article 129 of the Electoral Decree of June 2, 2026, announces the publication of the final list of approved political groups. Seventeen political groups (out of eighteen), representing two hundred and twenty-eight (228) political parties, have received approval from the CEP for the upcoming elections.

CEP delegation to visit the diaspora:

A delegation from the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) will tour several countries with large Haitian populations next week, including the United States, Canada, France, Chile, and Brazil. The objective is to assess the situation regarding the Haitian diaspora's participation in the upcoming elections.

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, Minister Pythagore Dumas went to the Horatius Laventure High School in Delmas 75 to register to vote. He encouraged young voters across the country to do the same civic duty in anticipation of the elections scheduled for December 13, 2026. He reminded them that voting is not only a right but also a duty for all those who aspire to build a more just and democratic country.
