The Taiwan International Rice Development Fund (ICDF) announces the official start of the second rice-growing season "A good start is half the battle !"

The Rice Production Improvement Project in the Artibonite Department has officially launched its second rice-growing season of the year.

Currently, the ICDF is working alongside partner farmers to prepare the plots : the soil is being loosened using tillers, and the rice paddies are being leveled to create favorable conditions for rice growth.

At the same time, quality seeds produced during the previous season are being used for nursery activities to produce vigorous seedlings, thus laying a solid foundation for this new season.

The project is paying particular attention to the importance of leveling the rice paddies : a well-leveled surface ensures uniform plant growth after transplanting. It reduces the risk of damage caused by excess water in low-lying areas and limits weed growth in higher-lying areas affected by drought.

For plots with significant elevation differences, it is recommended to create separate zones based on the terrain's topography to improve irrigation management and facilitate crop monitoring.

Through agricultural management based on adapted practices and the combined efforts of the project team in Taiwan and local farmers, the carefully prepared rice paddies will become a favorable environment for the growth of healthy and abundant plants.
