On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Federal Judge Jacqueline Becerra sentenced Keegan Harricharan, 42, of Coral Springs, to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to orchestrating a scam that allowed him to obtain federal funds during the COVID-19 pandemic to finance the 2021 assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-34162-haiti-flash-president-jovenel-moise-assassinated-by-mercenaries-official-updated-7am-+-video.html), the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

Florida resident Harricharan and his accomplices fraudulently obtained more than $840,000 in Wage Protection Program loans to finance and support a plot to overthrow the Haitian government, a plot that led to the assassination of the president, according to the Justice Department.

The financier used his company, TNR Holding Group Inc., to receive and distribute funds to other members of the conspiracy. With them, he discussed ways to obtain the financing, weapons, ammunition, personnel, and military equipment necessary for the operation, said Jason A. Reding Quiñones, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, in a statement, emphasizing, "This defendant did more than just commit fraud. He exploited pandemic relief programs designed to support small businesses during a national crisis and laundered those taxpayer-funded funds to contribute to a plot that resulted in the assassination of the Haitian president."

As a reminder, last May, a federal jury in Miami found Arcángel Pretel Ortiz, Antonio Intriago, Walter Veintemilla, and James Solages, identified as Harricharan's accomplices, guilty of their participation in the assassination of President Moïse.

This brings to nine the total number of people convicted in the United States for this assassination, carried out by a commando of mercenaries.
