Destruction of 5 tons of marijuana

On Friday, July 10, 2026, agents from the Bureau for Combating Drug Trafficking (BLTS) and the Coast Guard of the Haitian National Police (PNH) in the South Department destroyed more than 4.8 tons of marijuana (4,842.6964 kg) and 57.2 kg of cocaine in the town of Regnier, in the commune of Chantal. These drugs were seized as part of a series of operations conducted by the PNH since 2017 in the southern part of the country.

CAN employees protest

This Friday, employees of the National Ambulance Center (CAN) held a protest in front of the institution's premises. To express their anger over the non-payment of their salaries and the deterioration of their working conditions, they set fire to tires. According to the protesters, many employees have been working for months without being paid. They claim their contracts are still not finalized, which is preventing the regular payment of their salaries, with some even mentioning more than 10 months of back pay.

Gang dismantled, complicit police inspector arrested

During an operation by the Haitian National Police in Pèlerin 5, in the municipality of Pétion-ville, law enforcement dismantled a gang specializing in kidnappings and home burglaries in several neighborhoods of the metropolitan area. As part of the investigation, police inspector Rubenson Elce, a member of the 18th graduating class, was arrested and accused of being affiliated with the gang.
