An 11-Year-Old Girl Crushed by a Wall

On Thursday afternoon, June 11, 2026, an 11-year-old girl died in the Pacot area after a wall collapsed during a flood, causing heavy rains in the metropolitan area.

American Airlines Returns to Haiti

On Friday, June 12, 2026, American Airlines (AA), which had ceased all operations in Haiti in November 2024, will resume daily nonstop service between Miami and Cap-Haïtien starting November 1st, 2026. American Airlines is the first U.S. airline to announce the resumption of its flights to Haiti. AA also announced its intention to add a second destination in Venezuela, offering flights to Maracaibo starting July 14.

Justice Opposes Trump

Judge John J. McConnell reiterated his opposition to the Trump administration's suspension of immigration processing from 39 countries, including Haiti. In a new order issued on June 11, 2026, he reminded USCIS of its obligation to immediately resume processing applications, deeming the measure unlawful. The judge granted the Trump administration 24 hours to demonstrate the actions taken to comply with his decision, while also noting that the court has the power to enforce it.

2026 World Cup : Haitian-Scottish Reception

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, ahead of the match between the Grenadiers and the Scottish national team, the "Tartan Team" (June 13), Raina Forbin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a reception at the residence of David Clay, British Consul General. The reception was jointly organized by the Consulate General of Haiti in Boston and the Consulate General of the United Kingdom. It brought together numerous representatives of the Haitian and Scottish communities in the Boston area, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and local elected officials. Haitian and Scottish culture and cuisine were celebrated in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

New Canadian Ambassador

Global Affairs Canada announced that Alexandre Côté will be appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Haiti. He will succeed André François Giroux and will take office in the coming months.

The diaspora welcomes the Grenadiers

On Thursday, June 11, after three days of training in New Jersey, the Grenadiers arrived at their base camp in Quincy, a city south of Boston, where they will play their first World Cup match against Scotland at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Upon their arrival, the Grenadiers received a warm welcome from the city's Haitian community, who came to show their support in an atmosphere filled with patriotism, fraternity, and national pride.
