Kamikaze Drones in Downtown Port-au-Prince

Over the weekend, the use of explosive drones, more commonly known as kamikaze drones, in several neighborhoods of downtown Port-au-Prince, including Magloire Ambroise Avenue, Nicolas and Oswald Durand Streets, the Léogâne Gate, and the Bicentenaire area, plunged many residents into terror and panic.

Operation in the Wharf Jérémie Area

On Friday, June 5, 2026, around 3:00 a.m., the Haitian National Police (PNH), in collaboration with the Gang Supression Force (GSF), conducted a large-scale operation in the Wharf Jérémie area (Cité Soleil) as part of the effort to regain control of strategic zones. During this operation, law enforcement officers intercepted a vehicle transporting several suspicious individuals. As they attempted to stop the vehicle, an intense exchange of gunfire erupted between the police and the criminals. During this exchange, three bandits were seriously wounded, including a gang leader operating in the Delmas 4 and Delmas 6 areas, implicated in several cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.

Léon Charles summoned by the court

Léon Charles, the former Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Court on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, as part of the investigation into the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. He will have to answer questions from Magistrate Jean Denis Cyprien regarding his alleged involvement in this case. Several other figures, including former Senator Nenel Cassy and former President Michel Martelly (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47701-zapping-haiti-of-june-7-2026.html), are also expected to be questioned as part of this additional investigation.

Digicel : Outage in the Great North, Update
