Policewoman and her child kidnapped

On Friday, June 5, 2026, Police Officer Bigor Michel-Ange, a member of the 20th graduating class of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and assigned to the Ministry of Planning, was kidnapped by armed individuals. Her kidnappers, traveling in a gray Subaru, abducted her and her child as she was about to take them to school. No ransom demand has been received by the family, and the PNH has not made any official statement regarding the progress of the investigation.

Strengthening the Leadership of Displaced Women

With the support of UN Women through the Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund<, the Association of University Women of Haitien-North launched a project to strengthen the leadership of displaced women in the North for inclusive and sustainable crisis management. Objectives: to strengthen the leadership and participation of 150 women in the prevention, management, and response to humanitarian crises; to facilitate their active role in their communities; and to reach them more effectively through training, awareness campaigns, and women's committees.
