«D-5» 2026 World Cup : The Government calls on all Haitians 08/06/2026 09:12:35
"The Government commends the bravery, resilience, determination, and exemplary commitment of the Haitian national team, which, true to the legacy of the Grenadiers of Vertières, continues its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and carries the hopes of an entire nation. Fifty-two years after its last participation in this prestigious competition, Haiti returns to the world football stage thanks to the talent, determination, and courage of its Grenadiers. This qualification is much more than a sporting achievement. It represents a powerful symbol of hope, perseverance, and confidence in the future of the Haitian Nation. On this occasion, the Government of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé invites all Haitians to stand united with their national team, in a spirit of unity, solidarity, and national pride. Beyond social, political, or geographical differences, this global adventure offers us the opportunity to unite around a single flag, a single ideal, and a single ambition: to proudly represent Haiti on the international stage. The journey of our Grenadiers reminds us that the greatest victories are always born from cohesion, discipline, and collective faith. The history of our nation gives a special significance to the name "Grenadiers" Inherited from the Haitian revolutionary epic, this name evokes the courage of the fighters who, on November 18, 1803, at the Battle of Vertières, shaped the destiny of our people with their determination to win freedom. The famous cry "Grenadiers to the assault !" remains today a symbol of bravery, resilience, and self-transcendence. The players of our national team thus carry a legacy that transcends sport and recalls the founding values of the Haitian nation. Just as our ancestors transformed their aspirations into historic victories, our Grenadiers have demonstrated, through their qualification secured on November 18, 2025 (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46239-haiti-flash-haiti-has-qualified-for-the-2026-world-cup-video.html), that perseverance and hard work can pave the way for the greatest achievements. Their presence at the 2026 World Cup sends a powerful message to the world. Haiti remains a nation that stands tall, is resilient, creative, and capable of meeting the most ambitious challenges. This success illustrates the immense potential of our youth and the ability of our people to accomplish great things when they move forward together. The Government considers this participation in the World Cup a source of inspiration for the entire country. It reminds us that national development rests on the same principles that lead to sporting victory: unity, discipline, commitment, teamwork, and confidence in our abilities. Football thus becomes a powerful vehicle for social cohesion, international influence, and civic engagement, capable of strengthening the sense of belonging to a shared community. The Government calls upon all Haitians, both in the country's 10 departments and within the diaspora, to wholeheartedly support the national team throughout this competition. Each match will be an opportunity to affirm our attachment to the Nation, our confidence in our players, and our shared desire to see Haiti shine. United behind our Grenadiers, united behind our flag, let us make the 2026 World Cup a historic moment of national unity, collective pride, and hope for the future. Together, let's demonstrate to the world that Haiti's strength lies in the unity of its people and in their ability to transform their dreams into reality." 2026 World Championship Schedule - Group C: Saturday, June 13, 2026: Haiti vs. Scotland: 9:00 p.m. (USA/Haiti time) at Gillette Stadium, Boston, USA; Friday, June 19, 2026 : Brazil vs. Haiti: 9:00 p.m. (USA/Haiti time) at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, USA; Wednesday, June 24, 2026 : Morocco vs. Haiti: 6:00 p.m. (USA/Haiti time) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, USA.
