Washington offers its full support to Haitian Prime Minister Fils-Aimé

On Friday, May 29, 2026, at the National Palace, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé co-chaired a meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, who was accompanied by Dennis B. Hankins, U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, and senior State Department advisors.

Representing Haiti at the meeting were Raina Forbin, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sandra Paulémon, Minister of Planning; Patrick Pelissier, Minister of Justice and Public Security; Mario Andrésol, Minister of Defense; and Vladimir Paraison, Acting Commander of the Haitian National Police (PNH).

The agenda focused on the fight against armed groups and the electoral process : an analysis of the conditions necessary for holding reliable general elections.

This high-level official visit marks a decisive political turning point. According to the Prime Minister's Office, "the White House is aligning its total, exclusive, and unwavering support with the head of the Haitian government." Faced with the crisis, Washington has chosen clarity. This meeting sends a strong signal on the international stage : the United States stands united with the Prime Minister to restore State authority, dismantle criminal networks, and stabilize institutions.

During the discussions, the Deputy Secretary of State commended the leadership and determination of Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, reiterating that his government is the legitimate driving force to lead the country toward free and sovereign elections. Accompanied by his delegation, Landau observed the renewed security measures at both the National Palace and the Champ de Mars, these symbolic spaces of republican power.

The Prime Minister presented the successes of the security forces: Territorial Reconquest : Gradual recapture of control over strategic areas of the capital. Sanctuary of the State : Restoration of full institutional activity at the National Palace. Combat Cooperation : Joint strengthening of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H), reinforced by the impact of the bilateral P4000+ program.

The Haitian government and the U.S. administration reaffirmed their strategic alliance to eradicate armed terror and rebuild a stable and democratic Haiti.
